7 Websites to help you find housing in Israel

I’ve received several requests for finding temporary housing in Israel. Since most people are traveling from outside of Israel, the only feasible outlet seems to be the internet.

Note:  Do not wire someone money without having the keys to the apartment in your hand.  Please be cautious of scams. If a deal seems too amazing or you’re suspicious in any way, trust your instinct.

Here are a few websites I’ve discovered and may be useful in your search:

1.  Janglo (Jerusalem) and Tanglo (Tel Aviv)

tanglojanglologoThis site is a one stop shop for not only for apartments for rent but also for jobs, services, items for sale, advice, and local events.  Spend some time getting to know this website as it’s full of great information and updated daily.

2.  Sublet.com

3.  Babait:  Holiday Apartments in Israel

babaitI haven’t personally dealt with any of the people of Babait (which in Hebrew translates to “At Home”)  but I didn’t think it would hurt to provide them as another housing source.  I suspect they’ll be pricier than dealing with private owners but sometimes it’s worth it if you’re looking for a better location or are specifically looking for short-term holiday housing.

4.  Craigslist Israel

Craigslist is starting to become popular in Israel and three cities have been added to their listings; Haifa, Jerusalem, and Tel Aviv.  You can find amazing deals or amazing rip-offs.  Take all postings with a grain of salt and remember to trust your instincts.

5.  Expatriates.com

This site doesn’t appear to be updated regularly but some may find some items useful.

6.  Travel Library Apartment Search

Tired of hotels? Find short term holiday apartment rentals in Israel with Travel Library’s comprehensive directory of independently owned rental properties. All Israel self catering vacation rentals include direct contact details for the property owner/agent along with photos, property amenities, rates and much more.

7.  Hostels.com

hostels-com-logoYou may want to consider booking some time at a hostel if you feel more comfortable finding an apartment when you’re actually in country.  Check out Hostels.com for updated reviews, pictures, and details for hostels throughout Israel.

Note:  Do not wire someone money without having the keys to the apartment in your hand.  Please be cautious of scams. If a deal seems too amazing or you’re suspicious in any way, trust your instinct.
